How to Fit a Metal Building PEB Gutter with a Gutter Guard

Below is an email conversation GutterBrush had with a metal building PEB gutter customer looking to fit their gutter with clog protection.

Thanks for telling me the gutter has a straight face and the bottom is 4" and the top opening is 6.5".

I understand that with metal building gutters, the roof dies into the gutter.

Since there is a straight face from 4" to 6.5", then the face must be angled.   Based on my understanding of such,  the 6.5" brush would sit on the angled face and it might sit too high on the angle (not touching the bottom) and block the drip edge and block the roof. If it ends up that the 6.5" brush is too big, then the 5.25" diameter brush would be the one for you.

The safest thing is to get this box of all GutterBrush sizes and set them into the gutter to determine the best fit.   One type of fit  requires the GutterBrush to sit down in the trough below the drip edge filling the width of the gutter as best as possible, but not having bristles that stick up so high that they block debris at the roof drip edge and hold debris on the roof pannel.  With the GutterBrush filling the gutter channel beneath the drip edge, it does a great job at solving clogging when you fill the entire gutter.

Metal Building Sculpted Eave Gutter Protection

Some people choose a different fit which is to fill the height of the gutter completely.  This keeps all debris out, but due to the lousy design of the high front gutter edge, this unconventional fit holds debris up on the roof and on the fasteners etc where it can be visible.  The reason some people like this fit is because they regularly have someone, or they themselves get up on the roof and blow it off every 3 - 4 months or so.  This works well for some buildings, shops, garages etc, but can hold debris visible on the roof and is not good for the roof.

Here's where you can order all 5 sizes of samples;  https://www.gutterbrush.com/products/gutterguard-samples  Please see all 5 sizes, not just the 3 smaller residential sizes.

Here's a link to our commercial products page.    Just fill the whole gutter!

I hope this helps.

Sincerely
Alex
